Product costs
Access from: Catalog → Products (Cost tab of each product), Profitability → P&L and Profitability → Margin by product (import from a file)
Sales channels do not know how much each product costs you. You provide that figure, and with it the P&L calculates your real contribution margin. While it is missing, the margin shows higher than it really is.
Which costs you can add
Both are per unit:
| Concept | What it is | Where it appears in the P&L |
|---|---|---|
| Product cost | What each unit costs you: purchase or manufacturing. | Cost of goods sold, for the units sold minus the returned ones. |
| Shipping cost | What you pay to ship each unit, if the channel does not charge it. | Own shipping, within Logistics, for the units sold. |
Each cost has a Valid from date. When what you pay changes, you add the new cost with its date and the previous one stays in the history: earlier sales keep being calculated with the cost of that time.
You can enter the cost in any currency. If it is not the marketplace currency, it is converted once, at the exchange rate of the Valid from day, and stored that way.
Only users who can edit the catalog can add or change costs. Everyone else sees them read-only. Costs are available from the Business plan.
Add a cost to a product
- In Catalog → Products, open the product detail.
- Go to the Cost tab. At the top you see the current costs and below them the Cost history.
- In Add cost, choose the Concept, enter the Cost per unit and its currency.
- Choose the date in Valid from. If you leave it empty, it applies from today.
- Save.
With a past date, the P&L is recalculated from that day. If there was already a cost for that concept on that same day, it replaces it. While it recalculates, the costs of that account are locked (see After adding costs below).
From the history you can Correct the amount or currency of a cost, or delete it. To change the date, delete it and add it again with the right date.
Import costs from a file
For many products at once:
- Open the import with the Add costs button of the coverage message, in Profitability → P&L or in Profitability → Margin by product.
- Choose the Account. The costs in the file only apply to the products of that account.
- Click Download template. It has one row per product and marketplace of that account, with empty costs.
- Fill in only the costs you want to change and save the file.
- Upload it in Choose file, check in Columns which column each value comes from and in Review how many rows will be applied.
- Import. You can close the window: the import carries on and the result stays in History.
When it finishes you see how many rows were applied, how many changed nothing and how many were rejected, with the reason for each one. With Download rejected you get those rows to fix them and import them again.
File columns
| Column | What to enter |
|---|---|
sellerSku | The product SKU. In Vendor accounts, the ASIN. |
marketplace | The marketplace: ES, DE, UK… If you leave it empty, the cost applies to all the product's marketplaces. |
date | From when the cost applies, as DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD. Empty, it applies from today. |
cogsCurrency | Currency of the product cost, with its 3-letter code (EUR, GBP…). Empty, the marketplace currency. |
cogs | Product cost per unit. |
shippingCostCurrency | Currency of the shipping cost. Empty, the marketplace currency. |
shippingCost | Shipping cost per unit. |
Example:
sellerSku,marketplace,date,cogsCurrency,cogs,shippingCostCurrency,shippingCost
MY-SKU-001,ES,01/01/2026,EUR,12.50,EUR,2.10
MY-SKU-002,DE,,,8.90,,File rules
.csv,.txt,.xlsx,.xlsmand.xlsfiles are accepted. The first row holds the column names and, from an Excel file, only the first sheet is read.- Columns are recognized even if capital letters, spaces, hyphens or underscores change. If one is not recognized, in the Columns step you choose where each value comes from.
- An empty cell changes nothing, and a row with no cost at all is skipped. That is why you can upload the whole template even if you fill in only a few rows.
- 0 is a zero cost, not an empty cell.
- Amounts go without a currency symbol or thousands separator, with a comma or a dot for decimals:
12,50or12.50. An amount like1.234is rejected because it is unclear whether it means thousands or decimals. - Dates are read day first:
03/04/2026is 3 April. Future dates are not accepted. - If you leave the marketplace empty, the currency is required: otherwise the same number would be euros in one country and pounds in another.
- If you open the template in a spreadsheet, keep the SKU as text so leading zeros are not lost.
After adding costs
The P&L recalculates on its own. While it runs:
- In the P&L, in Margin by product, in the Cost tab and in the import window you see a progress bar with the message that it is being recalculated.
- The figures stay visible but frozen: dimmed and not clickable.
- The costs of that account are locked for all users: they cannot be added, corrected, deleted or imported until it finishes. Other accounts are not locked.
When it finishes, the message P&L updated with the new costs. appears and the amounts update. If the recalculation fails, an error message appears: save the cost again or contact support.
To see which products still have no cost, check the Cost coverage column in Profitability → Margin by product.
